About Us

Loving God and Loving People as We Grow Together and Go Together in Christ

ABOUT

Our Purpose is to Love God and Love People As We Grow Together and Go Together in Christ.

The purpose of Cedarcrest is centered around the great commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all your soul, and with all of your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:36-39).

As we seek to love God and love people, we want to continuously pursue maturity and unity in Christ. We believe that growth in Christ should be evident in 5 key areas:

5 FRUITS OF GROWTH

LOVE: God is love and love is to be the defining characteristic of a follower of Jesus Christ. Love is to be our testimony to the reality of God’s love for the world.

OBEDIENCE: The love of God compels us to obedience.  We demonstrate our love for God by seeking to obey His word.

COMPASSION: Compassion compels us to take the love of God to those in need.  Far more than just sympathy for others' needs, true compassion moves us to action.

GENEROSITY: Wealth can be one of the biggest barriers that prevents us from truly following Christ.  The heart that belongs to Christ is generous towards the Lord's work and the needs of others.

REPRODUCTION: As followers of Christ, we are called to live out the gospel, seek to make disciples of all nations, and bear much fruit for the glory of God.

CATALYSTS OF GROWTH

In order to foster Christ-like character in our lives, we need to consistently participate in 5 key areas:

WORSHIP:  Worship is publicly and privately expressing our devotion to the Lord. We must seek to have regular times of prayer and Bible study as well as frequently attend corporate worship services.

GIVING: As a starting point, believers should seek to give 10% of their income to the Lord.

GROUPS: We desire for believers to be a part of weekly, small-group Bible study.  We have Bible stud classes that meet on Sundays and community groups that meet in people's homes throughout the week.

MINISTRY: We must seek to serve the body of Christ in an area of ministry.

MISSIONS: Missions is serving those outside of the body of Christ and living out the calling to go to the world.
