My name is John Hall and I work in sales for a technology company. My wife Christy and I have three children and have been members at Cedarcrest for about 12 years. Most recently, I have been serving in the Children's Ministry. I love the way our church has lived up to our motto and am so excited to see how God will use our church in our community and around the world.
My wife, Debbie, and I became Christians in 1973. We have been married 47 years and we have 5 children, 14 grandchildren. We are indeed blessed. We have attended Cedarcrest from the beginning in 2004 when it was a church plant of Johnson Ferry Baptist church. We attended Johnson Ferry in Marietta for 20 years until we moved to West Cobb to be closer to our children and their families. I have been a local State Farm Insurance agent for 40 years in Cobb County.
I was born and raised in south Georgia in a wonderful home, where my parents and church family taught me about the love of Jesus. I became a Christian at age eight and was active in our local church. I attended college and law school at the University of Georgia, and after clerking with a federal judge in Savannah, began working at the Atlanta firm of Kilpatrick and Cody, eventually becoming a partner. During this time, my wife, Leslie, and I were active in Smyrna First Baptist Church, along with our three daughters—Lauren, Allison, and Heather. In 2001, I joined the law department at Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Shortly thereafter, I was appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Georgia (Rome Division), which led our family to relocate from Marietta to Cartersville. We began attending Cedarcrest in 2012. Since that time, I have had the honor of serving this body of believers as a deacon, a co-teacher for the Route 66 Bible study class, and an Elder. In my spare time, I enjoy golf, reading, and spoiling my grandkids (Rosie and David). I’m grateful for what God has done in our fellowship, and look forward to the amazing things He will do among us in the future.
I grew up in cold Michigan, but all of my family’s from Alabama! I am married to my wife Jill (Roll Tide!) and we have two kids in high school, Emory Ann and Will. I came to know Jesus at Young Life camp in North Carolina in 1986, and spent my college years at Davidson. Jill and I have been at Cedarcrest since its first service at Shelton Elementary. We have raised our kids here, from infants to high school. I enjoy teaching adult Bible classes, fly fishing with my son when he’s not playing lacrosse, being beaten by my daughter in tennis, and watching the Walking Dead (not the Grateful Dead). During the week, I try to practice law. If you come to Cedarcrest, you will see how life is different when you follow Jesus.
I was born in Marietta and grew up in Orlando, FL where my dad has served for almost 40 years. It was because of my parents’ commitment to Jesus and the local church that I was given the opportunity to meet Jesus at a young age. I attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and Truett Seminary at Baylor earning a Master of Divinity in 2003. While at Baylor, I also met my beautiful wife, Kelly. Four months after I finished seminary we moved to Berlin, Germany. What we thought would be a couple of years doing mission work turned into eight years and planting a church. During that time God blessed us with three amazing kiddos: Aidan (12), Kegan (10), and our only girl, Brynn (8). As a family we are on mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus through the community of the local church. In 2017, I answered God's call to become the Senior Pastor of Cedarcrest Church. We are so excited for the days ahead at Cedarcrest and can’t wait to run hard after God together with you!
